It's been a long, long time since Emerging markets had the upper hand in terms of relative strength. Like the Russell, it's leading here to the upside, as evidenced by the fact that it's reached new highs first.

Don't overlook this signal. It might not mean much today, or tomorrow, but going forward, this is a big, big deal.

My chart of Copper last night, in hindsight, was irrelevant. Strength in stocks seemed to pull Copper higher on the day, negating its value as a leading indicator.

So here is my replacement; the Russell.

Copper not participating isn't exactly bearish, but if it happens for the remainder of the week, I'll be hedging soon.

Since the Russell is nearing highs, a breakout here would be a very bullish signal for stocks, and one that could illustrate a current that is able to head beyond the highs.

For now, the risk is to the upside as your broker dresses your portfolio into quarters end.
